2008 G8 Summit in Toyako Japan

Each year the leaders of the world leading industrialized nations meet. The countries that make up the Group of Eight are France, United States, United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, Japan, Italy and Canada. Various other leaders of developing countries are also invited to partially participate in the meetings, some of the countries invited this year are South Africa, Ethiopia, South Korea, India, CHina, Mexico, Brazil and others. There is think political cloud that obscures the meeting each year with various forms of protesting and very tight security and this year is no different.

The main topics to be discussed at the three day summit are Africa, Climate change and sustainable energy, Intellectual property rights, the World Economy and Nuclear Non-proliferation.

  1. Policies that only benefit the 8? We have do cut all emissions in half by 2050. BIG BENEFIT.

  2. I’m not a fan of these summits. I don’t think anything useful has come out of any of them. Whay don’t they just stick to the UN?

  3. It was a pain in the ass. Heaps of extra security and all of the coin lockers were shut, so you can’t leave your heavy stuff and come back. Urgh…
