Its great to see you working towards this goal. Its amazing how much interest there is here in Japan as well about Jamaica and Jamaican culture. Have you tried reaching out to any Jamaican's living in Japan? Do you have a Facebook fan page for your site and "Operation Visit Japan?" Would be happy to help. Just a word of caution - the Japan Rail Pass only lets you take JR lines and the slower Shinkansens which may add additional time to your trip depending on what you want to see/visit. There are a multitude of other lines, ie. Tokyo Metro, Toei, and other privately owned lines that are not covered by the railpass. However, to get from city to city via rail in Japan, the railpass is a great option. Just wanted to let you know for your budgeting purposes that you might want to factor extra in for local travel.
