It’s been a while since I’ve had a special itch scratched by a fantasy type anime that is ripe with good storytelling, a valiant hero, a princess needing to be rescued and hints to something sinister happening in the world. Guin Saga is an anime that premiered recently that I hope will be able to scratch that itch and after watching the first 3 episodes I have found very little to complain about so far.

Oh My God it’s a leopard!
Guin Saga stars Princess Linda and Prince Remus, twins and aires to the to the Kingdom of Parros’ throne. The story starts as their homeland is brutally attacked by a foreign land with their parents being killed in the process. To protect the royal twins they are sent away to a foreign ally only to accidentally end up in the heartland of the enemy. Just as they are discovered they are rescued by a strange half man-like creature who rescues and eventually begin to protect the royal twins. “Guin” as the leopard head man is eventually known as has lost all his memory except the name of a female, he is an excellent fighter and the animal like character and instincts are said to be the result of a curse.

The Parros Twins
I don’t know much about the series other than it is based off a popular and long running series of books but I am impressed by the first couple episodes which were very fast paced. Apart from one or two annoying characters with awkward dialog or scenes so far there isn’t much to hate so I’ll continue to watch this series.
