Jamaican Music – Mavado – So Blessed
Without a doubt music is one of the reasons that Jamaica is more than just a dot on the map. Jamaican music may be somewhat difficult to understand to outsiders but the Jamaican music industry is the most vibrant anywhere in the world and it continues to evolve with the people. In 50 years Jamaica’s music has morphed into various sounds, influenced many and has given birth to entirely new genres. Mento, Ska, Dub, rocksteady, toasting, reggae and dancehall are all types of Jamaican music.
I thought I’d give an example of Jamaican “Dancehall” music, which is a child of reggae that has taken on a life of it’s that is now popular with young people in Jamaica but is also spread worldwide, with Japan being one of the biggest outlets.

Not really a big fan of dancehall music… I’ve never heard of mento and toasting, would be interesting to hear something in those genres ^^
