Jamaica has a rich musical heritage stretching back long before we even became an independent country. Jamaican musicians and entertainers such as Shaggy, Jimmy Cliff, Shabba Ranks, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Sean Paul and the great Bob Marley among many others has made Jamaica much more than just a spec on the map. While browsing through my bookmarks I saw a cool page I had seen a few weeks ago that lists the Album cover art of 40+ Jamaican music releases stretching from from 1965 up until 2008.

Looking through the list is almost like transforming back in time and looking back at the fashion and style of people back in the day (long before I was even born) and how it evolved over the years to what it is now. I think I am starting to understand what Mom and Grandma was saying about old time music, and party vibes from just looking at some of these pictures.

The Ninjaman album art above is an indication of where it all went wrong in the local music industry scene somewhere in the early 1990′s. Check out the complete list of album art – warning some images are not safe for work or the eyes of youngsters.
