Tokyo has Secret Underground Warehouses

Tokyo is more than just a city it is a metropolis. Every thought what would happen if some natural disaster such as an earthquake were to strike Tokyo with close to 13 million people about the place. Check out this video as camera crew follows a city official to a trapdoor hidden in a Tokyo sidewalk, which opens to a narrow stairway leading to a giant underground warehouse stocked with emergency supplies.

The underground warehouse in this video is connected to an unnamed station on the Oedo line, Tokyo’s deepest subway. Apparently, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government maintains more than one of these warehouses, but the locations are kept secret. How cool is that?

Oddly enough, this is one of their widely known "secrets".

I’ve known about these since 2001 or so.

But I didn’t see the video, until April.

What they haven’t shown is that there are 3 entrances to some, A street level, A Station level, and a track level.

What a wonderful idea. I lived in Japan (Okinawa) for 4 years. I visited the mainland but would never believe this existed..thanks for sharing.

Those can be great shelters for the homeless as well.I mean, they can spare a few of those since they are unused right now.

Impressive! One more thing to admire about the Japanese. Hope the homeless over there never find these supplies.
