Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was myย  most anticipated movie off my must watch summer 2009 movie list. After going into the first Transformers movie and being pleasantly surprised I no doubt had high expectations for the sequel. Unfortunately Transformers 2 wasn’t a movie I enjoyed very much and in fact I am quite disappointed.

Plot

Two years have gone by since the happenings of the first transformers movie. Starscream has high tailed it to space, Megatron is dead and the rest of the Deceptions are scattered and in hiding while being hunted down by Autobots and a special team of American and British soldiers called NEST. New Autobots have arrived on earth to help to protect it and all is well until Megatron is revived and his master, the last of the “fallen” ones is revealed along with his plan to destroy Earth.

I didn’t like the movie because it was filled with the wrong types of excesses. Too many comedians, too many unnecessary characters, too much focus on unimportant scenes and the movie was longer that it needed to be. There were a few amazing moments action like Optimus Prime’s ass kicking scene in the forest and Jetfire is the probably the coolest transformerย  ever but the movie lacked cohesiveness and falls short of my expectations. A usual I don’t want to spoil too much so be sure to check out Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen at the theater and let me know what you think by leaving comments below.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is the forth summer blockbuster I am blogging about after kinda enjoying Xmen Origins: Wolverine, loving Star Trek and feeling rather annoyed with Terminator Salvation.

  1. I didn’t read the full post since I haven’t seen it yet, but I was afraid of this. I unlike you, I didn’t really like the first one and was hoping this one would be better like the X-Men franchise.

    1. @sixmats You will be happy this time around.

a few things. Majority of the people that did not like transformers 2 are suffering from the fan boy syndrome. Something I’ve recently escaped. If you go to that movie with no expectations and just Take it in there is no way in heaven hell or earth or cybertron you will not like it.

It is awesome for what it is.

Rotten tomatoes i think said something along the lines of no more robots in disguise Truth be told. If you went to watch this movie and saw alot of vehicles talking where’s the magic. Kitt and Micheal done do that how much years ago. The movie was exciting. It had its moments of SHOCK!!! DISBELIEF and show’d Who is Truly the BADDEST BOT ALIVE!!!! I’m no big hollywood critic but look at how the flick is doing at the box office look at the crowd its pulling to the theaters.. The masses seem happy.

a new outlook @ life is try to look at it from the layman standpoint more time. For what it is The movie is awesome

      my 30 cent. [anime]

IF U DON’T GET A TRANSFORMERS SMILEY I WILL HACK YOU TILL THEN THIS GUNDAM MUST SUFFICE.

  2. [anime] wow I thought it would be awesome cuz the first one was. I LOVED X-Men Origins!!!!! really good movie ^^ and so was Star Trek!!! I think that one is my fav movie this year =) gonna go see it soon and Il be sure to post!

  3. I hated this movie. Watched it yesterday. Then again, I am not into these kinds of films. I was obligated to go because my ticket had already been purchased for me.

Anyway, I just came to say hello. I haven’t stopped by this blog in a while. Looks like you’re doing well though!

      1. For me it was kind of like Star Wars: Episode I. I really wanted to like that movie, too. But this one had too many annoying characters, especially the twins. The pacing was terrible, making the action screech to a halt too many times. I wanted to yell at the screen, “why are you stopping the story again?”. Too little film hit the editing room floor, as well: I can’t believe I was in the movie theatre for almost three hours. There was also the potty humor in excess, like a five-year-old was in the room during writing. I’ll be amused to see what fan editors can do, if they can do anything.

  4. This is yet again one of those film series that requires no sequels. I think Hollywood is milking people out by making part 2, 3, 4 and so on of some films/concepts which really needed no additional telling; and often the movie comes out sooo soon after the previous not allowing enough longing to build up in the followers hearts and minds. All this because people still watch and money will still be made. So from one point of view they should continue to make big blockbusters, but from the artistic point of view (like I’m a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences right?) some movies are unnecessary. So I’ll save my few bucks then.

  5. IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE MOVIE AS YET I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU READ THIS.

Well I watched the first movie and I wasn’t moved I didn’t dislike it either I just thought its representation was off in the first one they had placed some level of emphasis on Megatron his entrance, his size and capabilities in the second movie they some what flipped it taking Megatron off his pedestal and placing Optimus on it instead and somewhat making Megatron look weaker than he should be but I guess that was due to the fact that the fallen was now present and not to make Megatron outshine his master they toned him down this is something that I have seen usually in animes.

Megatron and Prime name means something usually any Autobot around Megatron is quickly disposed of and the same for Prime with Deceptacons only Tron and Prime could stand up to each other for a decent fight, anyway I understand what Jamaipanese stated about the unnecessary so called humour that was often injected it annoyed me at times also but it seems rather bias of him since I had that same problems with “Star Trek”, my problem was not that there was too many unnecessary characters but that with the amounts of Deceptacons that were present I have no idea how the hell they lost they had like 8-10 extra Deceptacons present separate from the main set and the back set and Megatron could have easily made disposal of the majority of the opposition in his cannon, tank and flight forms which for some reason he was not utilizing in one of the main fight scenes towards the end of the movie. I didn’t too understand what he meant about the focus on unnecessary scenes though.

To the individuals who do not like these kind of movies then you should avoid making comments about them because it can throw off people who actually prefer and or watch this genre and for the others who state watch it and accept it for what it is if I wanted to watch a random movie involving robots I would but if I see something named “Transformers” I am expecting it to be about the previous “Transformers” franchise.
